The Facts About Production and Pollution

As the population grows, so does the need for products and consumption, meaning the environmental impact is occurring at a rapid rate. Everything from water, to food to energy will be produced at facilities that are surely going to need to invest in expensive pollution control mechanisms. For example, it is very common to need to control the separation from liquid to vapor. Think about what your family consumes in a day. Many of our day to day products are made in factories that cause negative impacts on the environment. For example, all agricultures practices have been found to have a variety of astronomical effects on the environment, one being extreme air pollution. In the production of fertilizers which are used to grow the food that we eat is great cause of pollution.
With all of this said, for companies that are in the business of producing of any product, investing in air pollution control equipment will be a top priority. The connection between emissions into the environment and the system from which they are emitted weighs heavily on production practices. An optimally functioning system means less down time, less pollution and less waste. A well-designed abatement system consists of a combination of scrubbers and mist eliminators. Certain compounds can be extremely corrosive to materials and even be considered toxic. It has been proven that exposure to chemicals can cause diverse reactions ranging from physiological to systemic effects.

How does pollution abatement work?

Mist eliminators or demisting is the removal of entrained liquid droplets or oil-mist carryover from a vapor stream. Entrained liquid does not consist of same-sized droplets, but as a broad range of droplet sizes. These are then assumed to be a “Average” droplet size for design purposes. To accurately determine the droplet median size, factors such as the location, application, process and mechanism must be taken into consideration.
